The SCNCA has recently purchased three camera systems comprised of a Cannon EOS Rebel Digital SLR camera and a HP Laptop computer. This is an easy to use system that will enable you to pick all the riders in a criterium or road race.
The equipment will be offered on a first come, first served basis. There are several options for Race Directors wishing to use the equipment:
- The Race Director can choose to provide a competent operator for the system and request the equipment only. Cost $50.00.
(It is suggested the operator get the equipment well in advance of the event and familiarize themselves with its operation. RACE DAY IS NOT THE TIME TO DO THIS)
- The Race Director can choose to hire a Camera operator from SCNCA (this will normally be an Official). The Camera operator is paid as an Official. This includes daily fees, per diem, mileage and lodging (if necessary). The Camera operator will provide finish order only, it will be the Race Director’s responsibility to generate printed results and a file suitable for uploading to the SCNCA & USAC websites.
- The Race Director can choose to hire a Camera operator and Results person from SCNCA (these will most likely be Officials). The Camera Operator and Results person will be paid as Officials. This includes daily fees, per diem, mileage and lodging (if necessary). This will result in complete printed results and files ready for uploading.
Daily Officials Fees vary from $60.00 to $125.00 per Official per day, depending on race category.
It will be the Race Director’s responsibility to insure the equipment will be at the venue on race day and arrange for the timely return of the equipment (undamaged, in good working order). Any cost incurred in transporting the equipment will be the responsibility of the Race Director.
Race Directors should communicate their needs to their Chief Referee well in advance of the event. This way, equipment and operators (if necessary) can be scheduled and assigned.
